Just thought of something that is not quite a proverb, more a humourous Go term:
Ghandicap- when you avoid fights with a weaker player, instead of giving him stones at the beginning.

I thought of this one on the way to school today.

Your not really dead until you can taste the dirt in your mouth.
(This refers to playing a group until you know that is dead.)
