Hi there,

Though I am fairly new to this forum, i did notice that http://www.gogameguru.com Is currently offline.

Is this in connection with the decrease in posts on their site, not updating the baduktv guide / English?

Waiting to read your responses.

Yes, but it's even happened to Google.

Has anyone heard any news about gogameguru after around mid-June 2016?
Has anyone been able to get in touch with them recently?

I've searched around the internet and I can't find any new things posted after June 14th from gogameguru via twitter, facebook, google+, etc.

You would expect that if they were still serious about their business that they would post something about what is happening with their website on their social media outlets as soon as possible.

Note the cryptic reply by gogameguru on this post: viewtopic.php?p=205354#p205354

Your wish will be granted soon enough.

The forum member later on in August said that gogameguru hasn't communicated with him for two month regarding an order mixup.

Given the above, one would suspect that the company may have met with an unfortunate demise.

I think its too soon to write them off just yet but I agree with tchan001 they should find the time to let people know whats going on - itd only take a couple of minutes, Hope they're not having too tough a time of it.

I ordered a couple books from them June 23rd, received the books a few days later, and have been receiving emails from them every couple weeks asking me to review my experience (which I've yet to get around to doing). The latest of these emails was sent on August 10th, Although, these emails may be sent by a third party, rather than GGG directly.

I'm not sure that answers your questions at all, but hopefully it helps.

I remember that I had a very bad feeling when I read this comment (assumedly by David Ormerod of Go Game Guru), remembering the unfortunate events around the spilling of that PDF document of their latest Lee Sedol book.

I should’ve remembered to scroll up and check those other recent posts before writing mine

I was wondering what happened to the newsletters, sad to see that the site is offline.

Anyone around with a direct connection to David? Would be good to verify whether he's okay and to let him know that folks miss him.

The facebook page also has a number of unanswered and worried posts by fans.

I do have somewhat of a personal communication with David, without exaggerating things, but I won't abuse it to feed news that he himself doesn't want to provide (again, not that I know much).

I have always thought that the core mission of GGG, to spread the love for the game, was not the ideal perspective to make it viable, at least not in a world where everybody expects the best stuff to happen for free while wasting salaries on the worst things the world has to offer.

Let's hope this is just a glitch but I'm afraid it is permanent.

Well hopefully he did not decide to fake his own death. Would be said to see a good business die.

Uhm, I for one hope that he still is able to enjoy life ;-)

And BTW, via thread on r/baduk, according to http://whois.domaintools.com/gogameguru.com the ggg domain has been renewed:

Odd, because when I do a whois in the command line I still get “Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2016-08-11T15:43:05.00Z” but maybe the change hasn’t been propagated to where command line whois “asks”? I understand little of these things.

Starting a go business is shakier than opening a restaurant. I've seen many come and go, some of them very good, some not so much.

Samarkand
Badukbooks
Hinoki Press (this one actually did change hands because of founder death, which makes me question the taste of the above comment, but I know it's in jest).
(Ishi Press was before my time, I think and I only saw its remains.)
OroMedia
TrumpIgo
Shodan Imports

Really? I still can`t open it... seems to be still down.
(by the way, it would make me quite sad if they would not make it  )
I just started to watch all those translated "perception of mejin" videos on baduk tv english...

I guess it is really hard to make a business with GO in the west... but hopefully this will change.

The "Hebsacker Verlag" for example, here in Germany where i live, they seem to do great already for quite a long time.

Looks to me like someone else registered the domain, just a blank landing page containing:

<meta name="description" content="Find Cash Advance, Debt Consolidation and more at Gogameguru.com. Get the best of Insurance or Free Credit Report, browse our section on Cell Phones or learn about Life Insurance. Gogameguru.com is the site for Cash Advance."

To avoid any wrong view, I have cleared my browser cache and then opened
https://gogameguru.com/
It is running well and shows the expected go and go shop contents. 2016-08-16 GMT 10:40.

Still not working for me locally, but when I used a web-based browser* to bypass any DNS caching problems etc it did load the right contents of the Go reviews/shop etc. So it seems to be back online but can take a while for that to percolate back through the interwebs.
