Post subject:  shoutout to the creators of the surrounding game
I'd like to just give a shoutout to the creators of the Surrounding Game documentary. I just finished watching the movie, and it was a high quality production, which made me reflect on my own life.

I'd certainly recommend watching the movie to anyone that's considering it.

Glad to have gotten the chance to watch it :-)

Watched it last weekend, it was pretty good! I only wish it featured more of the famous pros they interviewed (Iyama Yuta, Otake Hideo, Lee Sedol, Yoo Changhyuk, Cho Hunhyun, Nie Weiping, anyone else I'm missing).

Yeah, at least some of the interview material got cut. For example, trailers showed Cho Hunhyun saying that the American pro system was the beginning for American go. But the clip didn't make the cut for the actual film. They told a very specific story in the documentary, which probably led to a lot of good interview material being cut out, I'd guess (e.g. you hear a lot more from Ben and Curtis than you do from any of the famous pros :-)).

That material, as I understand it, is all going to be made available to the AGA and some of it is likely to show up on the DVD (since the DVD, according to the kickstarter description, will have include "extra interviews and footage." So hopefully much of it will see the light of day (maybe the AGA can upload the inverviews as youtube videos or something).

How can I watch this if I didn't back the Kickstarter? There was a screening at an independent theater near me, but I couldn't attend since I had work in the evening. I see on the website there's an option to buy the movie, but it's not available yet. Will at be after screenings at select theaters are done?

Haha,easier said than done. I went last year in Boston because that's where I live. Can't travel to CA this summer, unfortunately.
