I'm back. I want to play again. What joseki is hot right now? What are you enjoying? What are the pros playing? Where the traps at for easy corners? Any suggestions? |

Computer players (AlphaGo, LeelaZero too now following in footsteps) have made the early 3-3 invasion of an isolated 4-4 a legitimate move played in many pro games these days rather than the preserve of internet troll players. Jump of 4 instead of hane is the new normal: aim is to get sente because if you hane extend white 2nd line crawls an extra time but doesn't make other hane connect (as black hanging connection good shape and strong) and takes sente and tries to show the wall as not so valuable/thick. The "getting tricked" variation of taking the gote wall isn't that bad really at our levels, in fact I think many human white players will struggle to play that side well. |

So that's why I see it all the time. I missed the memo that is isn't as bad as previously thought. What is the reason? |
