I am really interested in the International Baduk Academy by Professor Lee Kibong and was intended to take 1 or 2 months break to go study go there next summer. However, last month I figured out that the webpage baduk-academy.com vanished! The blogspot of the school has been already outdated and without care for at least 2 years. And Professor Lee Kibong has either no longer played on KGS or changed his nickname so I have no idea how to contact him to ask if the school still exists. Anyone knows what happened? Thank you. |

I'm not sure either, but I think it's been closed. However, there are two Korean schools currently open to foreigners. Here is the link, which includes contact information. |

Afaik it has been closed now. There were plans to reopen it but I have not heard anything about those for quite a while. |

I had the same problem when I was looking for go schools in Korea that are open to foreigners. Based on what is available beyond Lee Kibong, it looks rather expensive. The most appealing option, I think is the Korean Baduk Center in Budapest, Hungary. We're talking about something like 150 Euros a month vs. 1,000 Euros a month. If price is somewhat an issue with you as it is with me, you may be interested in looking into it. http://www.badukcenter.com/ is the link. I'm thinking about perhaps going next summer - but who knows? |

There is another one I know of let me post the text from my blog~~~ "Korea; The Yang Jae-Ho Baduk Dojang is recruiting foreign players to study go in Korea. The dojang, or training center, plans to offer English-speaking instructors, and the pro instructor roster — in addition to founder Yang Jae-Ho (l) — includes Yi Sang-Hun 9P, An Dal-Hun 8P and Yi Jung-Wu 7P. The Dojang currently houses over 80 students and school founder Yang Jae-Ho 9P is the director of the Korean team for the Asian Games. Accommodation and training at the Dojang is 750 Euro/$1000 US per month; a 10% discount is available to groups, or students staying for over three months. Cultural excursions are also included in the deal. For more information on the school, contact Sang-Dae Hahn sdhahn@gmail.com" |
