Often see full game positions posted here in diagram form and am wondering how folks are making them, I know how to post diagrams (http://hiddema.nl/diagrammer/) where you add the moves a stone at a time (number them what ever you like) but this seems impractical for posting a diagram of a late endgame position where we are hundreds of moves on. Didn't see anything about this in the "How to make diagrams" thread. Am hoping there is an easier way, seems there must be. Had a question about such a position tonight (with an involved capturing race) so thought I'd ask. |

Several software packages can export diagrams. I have a few articles with screenshots: http://www.go4go.net/go/diagram_quarry http://www.go4go.net/go/diagram_drago http://www.go4go.net/go/diagram_kombilo For pro games that you view on Go4Go.net, you can export the diagram as follows:

On iOS you can use Go Eye. In settings --> 'screenshot sharing' select 'go diagram code'. Then just take a screen shot of the go editor and the diagram will be in the clipboard. Sadly Safari for iOS has become such a lame application that I hardly ever post analyses from my iPad anymore. If you are going to do this, also turn on 'bottom-up coordinates' in settings as well. These days I mainly post from firefox on windows using the web gobaduk board extension. You use ctrl-D to generate a diagram in a popup window that you cut and paste between 'go' tages here. |

That's so cool thanks guys! Had Drago already so used that and is supper easy (yay)! On second glance the position mentioned above was not so complicated, but is there some good method to use when capture races do get a little tough to read say with the posiblity for eyes and or ko's? |

There is no special treatment of stone captures and kos. You have to handle those situations by yourself, either by using separate diagrams or using comments. |

Oh yes, figured as much, that question was general to capture races (not regarding the creation of diagrams). Thanks again guys you've made my week! But the thread seems odd without a diagram of some game position in it so here is a position from a very exciting one I saw recently between Yamada Noriyoshi and Xie Yimin (Yimin is white) after 115 moves which was black S18: Not that I know anythings about go but at this point in the game was feeling fairly worried for white, was this warranted, anyway the way the game evolved from here was quite interesting to witness.
