Post subject:  YouTube Go Diary (Lets play Go)

Hello,
inspired by Battousai games, I thought it might be helpful/ entertaining to create a "go diary".
I will be playing games on IGS and try to explain my (amateurish 2kyu) thinking.
Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7CBF05BE996CEB79

Now I'm not even a dan player, so don't expect much.
However one can also learn from mistakes and trying to get the right thinking seems also the way to go.

If at least a one person finds it helpful/entertaining, then my mission is accomplished.

Watched the first 25 minutes. I must say I enjoyed it.

For those people unfamiliar with Bats lectures (very good) it's necessary to have some translation:

1] atari = attack
2] joeki = established, tested and well understood sequence of moves
3] doot...doot....doot... = likely moves

Number 3] is contagious.. I was at a Goban last week and apparently under my breath I was saying "doot..doot...doot"

I really enjoy videos like these. I hope more people start making them. They are just like Malkovich game comments except less refined and more honest.

BobC, atari means you reduce the liberties of a stone or group to 1.

Thank you for the kind reply, especially from a stronger player than I am.
It certainly gave me some calmness for my third game, which I really liked. I will keep it up and try to refine the comments and my thinking.
I noticed, I use the phrases "I'm sorry" and especially "I don't know" quite often :)

I watched the first 2 games and I like your videos. They are maybe a bit too difficult for beginners that are very new to the game, but for 20k-10k they do a great job on showing how stronger players "think". But I bet a lot of people from 9k-2k can learn a lot too (maybe even dans ;-) ).

I enjoy your videos and will keep watching them, thanks for sharing your games and thoughts :salute:

Hello, I enjoyed this video very much.

I think your level and style (playing solid and balanced) are very adequate for review. I am 6-7k on IGS and by looking at the first 15mn of your second game, I retained some excellent ideas for my personal improvement: 1. Look for ladders when cutting stones (I never do and do need to learn how to do so and take this habit)
2. Consider if a sequence ends in sente or gote before launching it
3. Think more about what the opponent is trying to achieve. Raise questions on his behaviour (why is he playing there?)

I noticed also some tenuki of you and I'm curious to know if those are good choices or not. I tend to play a lot of moves by shape but the default is to that I can tend to be in auto-pilot mode. The problem is to know when you can and when you cannot tenuki. I feel the line is hard to draw.

Thanks a lot for your time building up this go diary. I really do find it useful.
