Published on http://www.qipai.org.cn. Here are the top 150 rated players with their change since last month. Shi Yue remains on top with only a three rating-point drop, despite a poor month by his standards. Ke Jie jumps up two spots into a tie with Mi Yuting for second and third. They are 17 and 18 years old respectively. Jiang Weijie (like Shi Yue an 'old timer' at 23) is only a single rating point back after jumping two ranks into fourth place. And here are the same top 150 with their 1-year change since November of last year. |

Nice to see Ke Jie keep rising. BTW, is it better to keep all updates of the Chinese pro ratings in a single thread? |

I thought that if I keep on doing it, the thread will get pretty long. Do we then update the OP with the latest ratings or keep adding them to the tail? It seemed like it would be easier to search for older versions if they are separate topics. I could be wrong though. ![]() |

I wish I could also find a list of the top 150 korean pros, but I can only find the top 100. Also, I wonder where is the ranking list with pictures is? http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.a ... 26Sdiv%3D8 I was about to say actually, that it's interesting, that Rui Naiwei 9p is ranked 81 out of 557 pros in china, while two other females in the top 100, while Choi Jung is 86 out of only 277 pros. Korea's population is probably something like 1/20 of china, amazing that korea can compete internationaly. But if they don't increase the number of new pros every year-- in china, they where pretty much forced to make it 20, or the possible waste of talent would be ridiculous-- then korea would go downhill by ruining the careers of talented yeungseung. Anyway, ranting again, one possible reason is that the depth of skill is far stricter in korea than in china. However, it seems that there may be no real difference in strength, between chinese and korean 1p, as shown by the recent eurogotv interview. http://eurogotv.com/index.php?menu=News ... 1415394676 Ilya Shikshin is stronger than both Pavol Lisy and Ali Jabarin, who both seem to be strong enough to be a Japanese pro according to their play in to Japan. But even with his strength, it's still not enough to barely come close to challenging for being a 1p in china, similar to korea (I think DangFang Li was probably being polite too, but let's just say it's accurate for now). If Shikishin is around lower EGF 8 dan (2750+) and Jp 1p seem to bee around EGF 7.5 dan (2700+), it seems that Korean and Chinese 1p are usually around EGF 8.5 dan (2800+), the same strength as the most of the best Female Japanese pros. But! It is possible that the drafting process for the creation of the pro system in china was different in nature to Korea's, meaning it's possible that the depth of strength is deeper in China, and that new 1p rank around 200-300 in China. I would be interesting to find a list of the top 150 japanese players ![]() EDIT: macelee wrote: oren wrote: Can you tell from that page who the top female player is? 74 2417 Yu Zhiying Oh, I missed her, sorry! Whoops. So it seems ther are 4 females in the top 100 in china compared to 1 or possibly 2 in korea. Also, I think that the chinese rating system works differently to Dr Bea Teal's to a large extent. It's notable hat there are many pros above 81 and 74 who's names most of us do not know (unless you go on igokisen every day to look at every tournament in detail), the only difference being they're not female. Still, femal players rank higher than I actually first expected ![]() |
