Hi, There doesn't seem to be a forum for reporting problems with this website, so here we go. [admin] There is one, and I moved this thread to it. -JB [/admin] I can't access the first page of the "New GoGoD Website" post in the Announcements forum. With Chromium on Linux, I eventually get a "misconfigured server" error message. Whereas my Android tablet computer just waits forever. I can get to page 2 of 2 by clicking on the "last post" icon, but still cannot get back to page 1. |

It would help if you gave a link, but I believe you meant this post (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9715). I am also seeing intermittent issues. |

Random pages go down for random periods of time on this site. I just got used to it. |

typically, the problem is really long (multi-page) threads (and usually for people with more than 20 posts per page). these problems usually go away for a while after the ISP reboots the database (as far as I know). this forum software has a problem with these big queries that eventually times out or gives an "unavailable" response. (I'm not an admin, but no one has proven me wrong on this theory yet) |

As was mentioned, the resolution to this generally seems to be to set the number of posts per page to a smaller number in your profile/settings. |

It’s happening again: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10445&view=unread#unread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=10509&view=unread#unread Both give me: Quote: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Apache Server at http://www.lifein19x19.com Port 80 So I’ve set the posts per page even lower than before (to 10, from 19), and now the pages show. But hey, ten posts per page? Really? Regards, Tom |

Has my Study Journal collapsed under its own weight? I did keep uploading SGFs rather than linking from elsewhere. Edit : Seems to have got better. |

As of right now all these threads work without issue at 20 posts per page. Keep in mind that during high traffic times access to the database could be slower, especially if the threads are weighed down by sgfs and diagrams. Despite what it seems, it takes a lot to generate some of that using the current coding (more so for diagrams). We have tried to be liberal with the allowance of how many threads per page a user can view. We may have to start regulating a little more as the forum grows and usage increases. We will have to collect some data on our site bandwidth and usage statistics and see if we can figure out a good compromise. |

If this is getting to a real problem you might want to research caching (varnish, memcached) depending of course a bit on how you are hosted and if a simple more memory for the db server is needed. Sadly php is not always the quickest and most stable script-language to use (more so on apache) edit: Espacally caching of the SGF functions I suppose. |

And now it is starting to really annoy me with the 500s and the aborted querys due to execution time. Also this sounds much more like a bad configured shared database server then acctual problems, although it don't have to be that. (Also it might be worth looking into possiblities to purge data somehow. Perhaps even dumping some old data after backup and makeing the backup avaiable. But in reality a dedicated servers seems nesecary if this load is so big) (Yeah it had not happend to me untill today, and now I can't read something I really want to read) |

It started again yesterday for me. I had to drop my post per page down to 10 -- which I really, really hate! (but I can read the forum for now) |
