Hey, starting today, I have occasionally had a few bugs occur. First, and biggest, sometimes 'View unread posts' links to http://lifein19x19.com/ZLTOQ/forum/sear ... nreadposts which isn't anything. Second, sometimes icons or even the theme aren't able to be loaded, messing up the display. Let me know if you have questions, and I'll update if I notice any other odd behavior. Again, it's only happened today. |

Weird... Where were you at when you had that weird link show up? Have you tried clearing your cache? |

I'm half-awake, so I didn't immediately think to clear my cache. I did that now, and will let you know if it happens again. Thanks =) |

Hmmm, this started happening again occasionally. I cleared cache again, but fifteen minutes later, I started getting it happening again. |

Can you give me a link to a page where you're getting this? Particularly the one where the "unread posts" link is screwed up? |

There, it happened again so I can describe it. I was actually on the 'View unread posts' page. I clicked the button again (to see if there were any newer posts) and it sente me to http://lifein19x19.com/OpoaN/forum/sear ... nreadposts |

Anybody else seeing this? I have been seeing errors in the log files indicating requests for files with random five-letter names like that, but they seem to all be from googlebot IPs. 1) What web browser/os are you using? 2) Can you try logging-out, deleting your cookies for the site and logging back in? |

Using IE8. Yeah, I tried deleting cookies and such, with no luck. |

A couple more things to check: 1) Can you get it to happen with other web browsers? (I haven't been able to reproduce the problem with IE8 so far) 2) Do you have cookies turned off? 3) Do you have any spyware, viruses, funky toolbars, wacky cursor packs, etc. installed? |

I've had the weird links problem. It goes away after some reloading usually. I'm using Chrome on linux (although my user agent will say different). Cookies are on of course. When i view unread posts i usually middle click like 10-15 links for new tabs, and recently some of them time out occasionally. Is there maybe a CPU load problem? Cause especially with the malkovich threads, it could be like 100+ requests to the image building thingy in a minute. Maybe some caching problem? |

@averell: The timeout problem is something different. Are you getting incorrect links for the "view unread posts", etc. links at the top of the screen. Specifically, do they have a random 5 letter thing inserted into them? What do you have your user agent set to? |

I think it's related, but maybe not. Here is something you can grep in the logs if it helps: Jul 14 19:21:36.398 b4cfeb70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/RadLV/forum/ Jul 14 19:23:52.952 afcf4b70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/QSdXM/forum/ ... iew=unread Jul 14 19:33:55.766 b44fdb70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/LSUkL/forum/ ... nreadposts Jul 14 19:36:44.400 b7668b70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/WVjSP/forum/ ... =14&t=1084 Jul 14 19:49:01.903 b4cfeb70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/UiZUL/forum/ ... nreadposts Jul 14 19:58:27.255 b7668b70 Request: http://www.lifein19x19.com/UVVmY/forum/ ... nreadposts User agent string is "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible;)" and you can probably see IP in the post. |

Are you using the default forum template (subsilver2) or some other template? (not sure that's even controllable for regular users, but I'm running out of ideas) |

Nah, using the default. I really appreciate your looking into this. I'll let you know if I think of anything else. |

Alright, do you have your user agent set to some kind of fib like averell? It seems to be happening to googlebot based on the logs, and averell is setting his user agent to something non-specific, so maybe there's some code deep in the bowels of phpbb or one of the plugins that is doing some user-agent specific mangling. Also, do you have a plugin or something disabling or forging the http referrer? Are you going though any kind of http proxy? Any kind of anonymizing software? |

I do not know anything about user agents, so have not changed anything knowingly. To my knowledge, nothing is messing with the HTML referrer. I'm connecting from work, but do not believe that there is anything like what you describe active. |

Does it happen on your home computer as well (assuming you connect from home)? Have you tried using web browsers other than IE8? |

I'll check tonight. My biggest surprise is that it's shown up so suddenly. Regardless, at least it's not entirely blocking. |

It's happened to me once on Firefox, but since I never saw it again, I never thought to report it. |
