White should be good in this fuseki:

White should continue to build:

If white decides to split, he should not add a second stone! There is no good option for white on the lower left side on this board! (If white insists on splitting he should choose C11 instead anyways.)

A possible option is to enter the corner immediatly. One should now the next moves after D17:

This is a great idea, but I would feel more confident if both of the top two options had at least 10k rollouts. ![]() |

Variation 1 (Black blocks at D16): (Notice ELF thinks the game is now even.)

I struggle against this kind of fusekis in real life tournaments and against my local go friends. It is not easy to play against the two space extension in the upper left corner. (I think Alpha Go realized this also ![]() |

Perhaps this is a better place to enter the 2 space corner:

Something like this:

or this ... and the game is even again.

Let us try something completly different: (This is also possible without splitting. With and without splitting it is probably the better option than entering the corner directly) Attachment: nem13.jpg [ 172.97 KiB | Viewed 9355 times ] A shoulderhit at K16 is also a good option.
