I was really hoping for a free book this year. And if only I remembered the solution to Mr. Yang's problem from last year that he reused, I would now have another book. But I don't remember it, and everyone 4d+ working together on the problem just couldn't solve it. It's apparently nicknamed "Big Yard." The other three problems, I'll also post here. They're very classy, and I got them right with some help from other 4d+ players. Enjoy. (;-; If only I were still a 3d... those problems were easy...) Black to play in all four. |

@Violence: It will work better if you make this four posts. If people try to discuss four different problems simultaneously, they will be stepping on each other. |

Personally, I actually prefer this post to the plethora of "Problem of the Day" posts. At least these problems will stay grouped together, and they'll still be as valid 6 weeks or even months from now as they are today. (and apparently they'll still be valid next year too ![]() Many, if not most, people don't even read, much less post to the forum every single day. And by the time they come back around, there's too much to try and catch up on. I seem to recall that the daily tsumego posts on GoDiscussions were eventually groups into weekly, or maybe monthly threads of posts of daily problems. That made the other threads not get pushed out of sight so fast. |

I wish I could say anything useful about the problems. But the title of this post cracks me up every time I open the forums. Somehow my first thought was that this was going to be some truly inappropriate gossip or attack on Mr. Yang. |

LR24 wrote: That said, I'm not sure about my solution either, but maybe this is correct: White has to play ![]() I believe B1 is the correct first move, but W will answer B1 immediately at W4 in your second diagram. I think that is the strongest resistance. This problem was presented earlier in another thread, where I posted my solution attempt. |

Guess that's why I'm no Dan. ![]() I didn't think about white 2 at 4, and can't find the solution right now. Didn't look in your thread, yet. |
