It seems to be the only book on slate and shell without sample pages. Really strange. This stopped me from buying the book.

Another discussion of this book:

It's one of my favorite books for a general overview of many topics.

I have it.

It codifies some ideas that other books do not, or at least in a way that other books do not. It's absolutely worth getting. I wouldn't worry about level too much; the stuff is mostly level independent. Things like: prefer to finish a 3-4 corner before approaching a 4-4 stone. That's true no matter what level you are, and it's easy to forget really basic things like this as you get stronger, and easy to apply if you're weaker.

I found it useful when I first got it, and I'm reading it again now and still finding it useful. Maybe if you're a dan player all the stuff in there is obvious. Otherwise it's good stuff not found elsewhere.

The joseki topic is found not only elsewhere but in much greater detail here:

It is so hopelessly risky to state dates:)
