The symmetry of Go is the symmetry of a square. Square stones reflect that. |

The circle has more axes of symmetry than any other shape. I think the board should be round. |

Very funny indeed ![]() Still I wonder what a goban tiled like my bathroom with square stones would do with my perception of the game. Is there any Go software that has square stones as an option? |

Why not taking a "standard goban" and change the rules of the game so that we have a "border wrap" ![]() ![]() ![]() That's actually a sphere goban... [edit]I post that as I just solved the 19x19 yesterday night so I need something more challenging now ![]() ok... end of dreaming, back to study ![]() [/edit] |

Good idea. While you're at it, please place the square stones in the spaces and not on the intersections. It would make go a good deal easier imo. |

The empty points are indeed squares ![]() And the stones are actually square inside, they hide their intentions behind their outer rounding. bayu wrote: DrStraw wrote: I tried toroidal go quite a lot in my early days of playing.
