This may be a pretty specific issue, but I'm wondering if anyone has advice for me. I'm unable to connect to KGS when using my MiFi 2200 mobile hotspot through Verizon. However, I've connected through my MyTouch via T-Mobile before. I travel a lot for work, my location dictates which device may run faster (or at all) and it would be really useful to be able to connect using the MiFi. Based on some internet troubleshooting searches, I've tried the following: - pinged 74.52.20.162 (10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss; round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 119.779/194.703/631.191/148.959 ms) - pinged goserver.gokgs.com (10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss; round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 117.891/133.181/149.789/10.002 ms) - pinged gokgs.com (10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss; round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 118.081/138.391/180.857/18.932 ms) I'm not especially techie, but these seem to be good signs. However, when I visit http://www.canyouseeme.org/, it tells me, "Error: I could not see your service on [IPADDRESS] on port (2379) Reason: Connection refused." When I log into the MiFi admin, I don't find a port forwarding section, though it does have port filtering. Is there anyone else out there using the MiFi, or anyone who is savvy enough to offer some advice? Appreciate it much! --R |

I don't use the card you mention, but I can tell that outbound connections to TCP port 2379 are being blocked by your ISP or your OS. Check the port filtering section of your MiFi admin and make sure that traffic is allowed out to that port. Also make sure that any local firewall is allowing traffic out to that port as well. |

Thanks for the response. As for the OS, this occurs both on my Mac as well as my netbook (WinXP) when connected through the Verizon MiFi. On the MiFi, currently port filtering is not enabled. The computers connect wirelessly to the MiFi, and the MiFi connects cellularly to the internet, so I don't know of any other firewalls that could be in place. |

My guess would be that Verizon isn't letting through traffic to port 2379. Could you ask them? |

Happened to have a local friend who suggested that this weekend, so I called Verizon tech support. In the process of this call, she had me try the device tethered rather than just wifi. Interestingly, I was able to connect to KGS (though still unable to use the website to see myself on 2379). So, it works when I'm tethered, and works when I use wifi on any device except for the MiFi 2200. The tech support lady said that's as much as Verizon could do and suggested I contact the OS troubleshooters for more help. ::shrug:: |
