At first thing I'm a little worried about the rumors regarding support of java in the next Relise Ubuntu ... ( but why java?...imho .python is better...ok this is off topic) Then I wanted to ask if any of you have problems with Cgoban3 and connect with KGE are days that I find response time of KGS above 1000 ms ... I was wondering if there is some problem in my computer |

The question of including OpenJDK 7 by default in Ubuntu is interesting, but it won't really impact the everyday user much. Java will still be easily installable through the store (it is only being demoted to "universe" status) and Oracle Java will still be available. As for KGS support, it seems to work on my Ubuntu 12.04 machine with OpenJDK 6, but I don't play on it much. |

Well, I am using Cgoban3 on mint so this might not be too applicable, but I did have problems with disconnecting often, and after a system update that stopped. |

I've had a good experience with KGS on Slackware. Install java (which is probably the biggest hassle now that Oracle doesn't let distros package it), then download the cgoban.jar file and run it with java -jar cgoban.jar. Of course, there's still no sound to confirm stone placement . . . |
