Well, for this match, I think I should fill you in on my thoughts.

I have quite some experience playing against Magicwand's type of player.

They rely mostly on instinct, and reading.

As a result of this, they are almost always confident that they are in the lead.

There are mainly two ways to exploit this: Use better judgment to obtain a better position, and win by a small margin off of their overconfidence, or use better reading to crush them.

I don't think I have to tell you which one I favor.

The problem with having so much confidence is that often times, it generates blind spots in reading. I'll be watching to take advantage of this.

For now, in the opening, I plan on capitalizing on one of the most common things about people with Magicwand's style.

They don't know joseki.

Let's begin.

I do not like this move. It makes the approach by Black the obviously biggest move on the board, and White does not get a move of such value. In other words, the "trick" in Go is creating miai, and this move does not create miai.

Rephrased from a different view: If you play that move, you can be almost certain, that Black will approach. And because Violence mentioned, that one of magicwand's weaknesses might be Josekis, you can start with those right away. Furthermore, I know through watching Araban's video explanations, that there are tons of Hamate with this low pincer ; )

So, I think it's safe to say, that if you have a strategy to deal with Black's approach, then there's nothing wrong with this move.
