I just finished playing my second game against bayi on KGS. Both games are even.

In this game I took Black and White won by 31.5 pts.

In this game I also took Black and Black won by 15.5 pts.

In the second game I went for a bolder global strategy - which is something I normally don't do  Perhaps some analysis will help me to know in detail what it is that I did in the second game that I did not do in the first. Much obliged in advance for your comments.

When you are focussed on a particular goal, you play well. The invasion from moves 33 to 51 was good. But often you seem to make vague central moves that have no clear goal. In the first 30 moves, try to play more for corners and sides.

Have a look at Sensei's Library, particularly the following pages:
http://senseis.xmp.net/?ExtensionFromAWall ( move 19 )
http://senseis.xmp.net/?ExtendingFromAnEnclosure ( move 14 )

EDIT: Looking at your second game, I see why you won. You emphasised corners and sides more, and the center less. This meant that you got territory more efficiently.
Look at the finished boards for both games. Notice where you made your points. In the second game, you went for the better real estate.

Well, thanks for the compliments. I've been taking time lately to study the opening and early middle game. I still have a lot to learn, but it looks like the little that I learned helped me greatly in my last game against bayi. I will continue to study the opening and middle game, and learn L&D in a bit more depth. Ultimately I want to be able to play in a way consistent with objectives at a given stage of the game. Of course I'll still be losing games, but at least I will not be making as many gross mistakes as before. Perhaps if I find an exceptionally aggressive player that will punish my mistakes whenever I make them, progress can be slightly accelerated.

You can use the font tag to set it to whatever you want. Isn't he using Times New Roman? Looks pretty normal to me.

I was using Georgia font in my last post. I like the way it looks  Sometimes I also use Verdana and Tahoma.
