This is a 2 stone handicap game, I am Black The fun starts at move 75 with whites invasion. White relentlessly pursues eyes and showed a great fighting spirit. I thought some others might enjoy it as well. I have commented on key parts in the sgf.

I played far from perfect, so all comments are welcome.

6: Very bad. This forces white to take good shape, whilst happily receiving good shape in return. It is normally best to play R4. If white crosscuts, black can play for an even exchange. R2 is sometimes possible (but here is rather submissive, since there's no benefit to being low), and is still much better than the game.

8: It is almost intolerable to leave white to take Q5, though you have to leave a weakness somewhere now because Q4 is so bad.

10: Seems rather bad again. Sacrificing is all very well, but this forces white to become very strong here. Maybe it is better to not settle so quickly, in case there is a better move later.

12: At least hane at N2!

14: I would prefer F17 to impact white more, but this is okay.

26: Perhaps it is better to play F18 first. If white answers, you tenuki (but get a forcing moe at H17). If white answers at H17, you retain sente and can play a big move like R14 (far from white's thickness). It is annoying to let white get F18 in sente.

36: This kind of move is usually bad - it asks white to play a great move that disconnects black's groups. This move isn't great for white here because black is strong, but there's still no need to help white make shape later. E3 is better, as it still threatens the connection but doesn't leave you with a weak F3 stone if white descends.

46: So now you have made white strong...

79: Yes, white is rather weak to be trying this, but you have quite bad shape at Q7 so it will be tough for you.

And now I have to go, so that's enough comments for now :)

That was a fun game to watch. Thanks for posting.

You have a most unusual conglomeration of skills. You have the fighting skills of a 3K, and the fuseki of a ...a...well, let's not go there. Suffice to say, you could benefit from the study of joseki.

I don't mean memorizing joseki ( although that could have some benefits too ) I mean trying to understand it; trying to figure out why each move is played.

Your current play in the corners seemed to lack focus, as if you did not know what you were trying to achieve. There are goals in josekis, such as taking the outside, or taking territory, or keeping the other guy eyeless, or making eyespace yourself. Your play- especially in the lower right - seemed totally unaquainted with such concepts.

You beat 5K by giving him a huge lead in the beginning and then outfighting him in the middlegame. If you can improve your opening to match your fighting, you will be giving him two stones.

With Black 182 you killed your own corner, that is if white would have played 183 at B19.
Well it didn't really matter at this point of the game, but you may want to know this :D

As the proverb says, "the opponent's point is your own". In other words, if 183 is a good move for him, it would be a good move for you. 182 should be at B19.

@amnal

Thanks for the comments. Re: move 8. I had a thought at the beginning of this game that I would try to force white into the middle. I realized that Q4 was bad at this point and did consciously decide to give up the big corner for influence. Perhaps not a wise choice, but it was on purpose. I appreciated your thoughts especially on move 36. After move 79 I did have quite a rough time, but it was a fun ride which is why I posted the game. :)

@Joaz

Thanks for your tact in critiquing my skill set. ;) I have been studying a lot of joseki lately, it must not be sinking in. during the fuseki of this game I had this strange idea to try and "herd" whites two corner stones towards each other. This informed most of my decisions in the game. I tried to take "important" points when I thought I had sente and in fact did end up with enough influence to brute force my way to a victory.

I am working on improving my opening which is why it has fallen apart. Previously, I played much to heavy and as I've tried to lighten it up it seems to have gotten worse. But I have been playing long enough to know the cycle. I am hoping for some crystallization soon. Thanks again. Your comments are encouraging.

@blade

wow. I've been making that move for months now and no one has ever contested it. Thanks for pointing this out! They don't have a "slap yourself on the head" icon but if they did it would go here [ ]

E17 only works when there is a 3-3 invasion.

The difference is that in 3-3 invasion, invader can't escape. In joseki, white can't be blocked in.

@red_z06:

Useful analysis for the general refutations of the hane for those who have not seen it before, but white has G16 in game.
