I feel like the problems my opponent gave me (the stupidity leading to black 191, where I was feeling defeated and not keeping an eye on weaknesses I already knew I had, aside) are the sort of problems I am having a lot lately. I'd be really grateful for some comments and advice about behaviour and thinking.

There is something wrong with the file. If I scroll through it, sometimes I get different positions. My comments about the first 100 moves: The major point that I see in this game is that you played slackly in moves 60-70 and let him connect two loose groups. The game was probably even up til then. You had some walls and he had two weak groups. If you had played a little more aggressively, you could have crushed something and won. EDIT: The more I think about move 12, the more I like the variation. |

p14 and q11 appear to be a joseki autopilot, oblivious to the surroundings (i.e q9). Jump isn't good here, just like viewtopic.php?p=157576#p157576. 12 should possibly even connect solidly on the other side, but the position is already bad by then. If 8 is extend to the right on the vital bulge point of e4 then you either get a much more solid wall, or if black resists with push up to f4 you follow out your threat in e4 and push through at e3 for a trade. And j4 etc is saving a blighted stone from a broken shape, better to just sacrifice it and hope you don't screw up so badly in the next place. |

A few comments on the early play. ![]() Actually, Black let you get away with making a heavy group on the bottom side. ![]() |

Thank you Joaz, Uberdude and Bill! This feels like exactly the level of detail I need. |
