Hey, so if you all remember me I made a post about how to improve since I just started playing go and this was my 7th game ever playing which is supposedly against a 10k according to him. Although I won, I just wanted a review on anything I might be doing wrong since i'm still a beginner and still learning the fundamentals. I am playing black with handicap.

Some comments: You're likely as strong as the person you were playing, if not stronger. You may want to try asking for games saying you are 15k or 12k or somewhere around there, because your attacking and whole board thinking are way ahead of your opponent. It escaped through a mistake in the end, but black's chase of the lower left white group was the right thinking, and many kyu players would happily cut and take part of it instead of taking all of it, which is their due.

This ![]() W must add a move to fix Q18, or his entire corner dies. After ![]() ![]() dkuro wrote: ![]() ![]() ![]() Now that I look at it, it was probably unnecessary ![]() ![]() If you want to atari at Q18 with ![]() This is your 7th game ever -- the above 3 mistakes are already a lot of information to digest. Especially ![]() It's worth it to go over these 3 mistakes, a few more times, until you feel more comfortable with the local variations. |

EdLee wrote: dkuro wrote: ![]() I'd say it would be good for B Better to fix your real weaknesses, like P4. An important point to mention is the ladder only works because black has a liberty at p4. If white pushed at p4 and black blocked at p5 which is natural, then now the r3 cut can't be captured in a ladder. So Ed's suggestion of p4 connection is good not just to fix that weakness but also stops the r3 cut becoming a problem. |
