Post subject:  7k vs 8k game: critique of my play

Hi all!,

In the game as usual I am misspenny.
I need some reviews here in particular:

move 17: how to respond to black push which is considered mistake in joseki dictionary?
move 64: probably I messed up something
move 82: is this attach justified?
After mve 82: I think there's a way to make life without seki. But I messed up something

Thanks in advance
At some point we decided to count but my opponent thought that my group was dead I insisted to play and obv it was seki.

Hi misspenny,

:w14: D3.

:b17: This is not a push; it's a connect.
It's rare, but does appear in pro games.

:w18: G5.

:w22: Why ?

:w30: B3.

But that move takes gote after the exchange. Is it big enough to play anyway?

Can you please (if you have time) to answer my other questions? Thanks

Hi misspenny,

I'm not sure about :w30: -- maybe tenuki is OK.

For :w22:, for every exchange you make, you have to ask yourself:
is this exchange good for you ?

For the exchange ( :w22: - :b23: ), how is this good for White ?
You send :b23: out, ahead of your :w22: .

:b19: C10 -- big wedge between your upper left start point stone and your lower left wall.
That's why you want to block the other direction ( D3 ) on :w14: .

:w32: Maybe K6.

:w52: Maybe Q5 better.

:w64: If you want to fight, G18.

:w82: Did you worry at all about your top group ? R18/L18.

:w22: - omitting atari and just extending is a typical issue of good style. The stone at J4 is not the one you really need.

:b63: seems to be invading a small area. Up to here you have handled the game rather better than Black. My first reaction was that R18 has now become a key point. You guys didn't agree.

:w82: seems dangerous. Your group in the upper right needs help now. :b89: - luckily for you, Black prefers moves in the centre to stealing the base.

By 112, I guess you should win.
