Post subject: | A few questions |
This was a game where I took my time to read and count, but where I still had a hard time deciding where to play on several occasions : More specifically: 31: what's better, going for the corner as I did, or trying to reduce white's bottom ? (where ?) 35: cut like I did, or still reduce the bottom ? The cut looks strong, but i'm not so sure now. 39: move out in the center (N12 or N13), or split white and connect ? 49: which side to cut first ? S11 or S13 ? 59: is O8 an overplay ? The idea was to reduce the bottom while attacking the right, but maybe this is taking some unnecessary risks here. 71: move out, or connect at 04 for example ? 81: is it better to keep running, or living locally ? 87: mistake, it costed me the corner. I guess R3 was the correct move, right ? 177: the game is close if I count well. Black can still win. This cut gains a few points, but drives white in the bottom. What would you have played instead there ? 193: is J15 bigger ? 203: black can resign here, thanks for watching ! If you have any other remark, feel free to post ![]() |

31: When I see the G3-K3-N3 formation, I like to probe at K4. Your move isn't bad though. The cut at P13 looks appealing as well. 35: Looks fine. 41: This looks like an overplay. At 46, what do you do if White plays O12? The ladder is unfavorable, e.g.: O12 P9 Q8 O11 O10 O13 N13 N12 R12 O12 M12 N11 N10 54: It blows my mind that White played this move, R7 is clearly the right move. 55: This is too greedy, R7 is the proper response. White punishes appropriately by getting to play Q7. 61: Too ambitious, White has greater control of the bottom than you and the cut is severe. Also, you are ahead after the disaster on the right from White, so there is no need to play like this. 68: Painful for Black. 71: Just connect with O4. 77: The hunter has become the hunted. 85: You make life, but you gain very little while White solidifies bottom. 91: Just do the tombstone tesuji, R3 instead of Q1. R3 R2 S2 S1 T2 etc., hopefully you know this. I'll stop here. edit: 123: L13 instead. 137: Unnecessary. 161: Unnecessary. 193: B13 looks better. |

I missed this sequence. Araban wrote: 91: Just do the tombstone tesuji, R3 instead of Q1. R3 R2 S2 S1 T2 etc., hopefully you know this. I know it, and I might have found it if it were presented in a problem book. But i'm not so sure. It's a nice addition to your "blind spots" topics... Thanks for your remarks! |
