Post subject:  Getting more from less (2k v 2k)

Hey folks, I've noticed this forum has been relatively quiet. So I'll post a game of mine for comment.

This game was played nearly a month ago, but I have been mulling it over for a while. I feel like after my opponent made a mistake in the UR that lead to my kill of the corner, I should have been comfortably ahead. But later in the game I didn't feel ahead, leading to overaggressive play starting at 141, and eventually my overplays caught up with me and wiped out my chances.

Would be grateful for any thoughts.

Trying to look for things to suggest, though you're at least as good as me.

51: I wasn't very happy with the result in the top left. How about atari-ing the two stones from D14 and E14, then turning to D11. It seems to more or less claim the whole side in exchange for the corner that was his in the first place (though of course there's aji remaining on the side).

93: I think this move really wants to be at B9. Better to keep your groups stable, especially when you're ahead! The move you played in the game gives you central strength, but there's nothing in the middle, and the group you're pressuring can live fairly easily at will.

95: If you DO want to attack this group, this has to be at K14, right?

139: I think M6 may be bigger, because it's sente.

143: The middle still doesn't have much potential for points, so this fight seems like more risk than it's worth. I prefer B5 and other sente endgame.

159: I think either G8 or C7 is preferable slightly. G8 is more interesting, C7 is more safe/stable.

Obviously, you gave up a bit too much stability and didn't hit quite the right spot to live when it came to the crisis moment. These seem like fairly minor mistakes and easy to catch next time, so overall, you played quite well.

Bill, I've noticed you often make the suggestion to play one back from the shape at :b5: when there's an opposing stone at the 4-4 in the opposite corner. Do you feel :b5: is bad, is it just simply not your style to allow it, or are you just offering up an alternative without calling :b5: bad?
