In the second game 101 looks much worse than 91. Run out and you don't need to worry about killing white to live. Hmm we were both at the same tournament(Munich), but I can't remember you. Did we meet? |

Yeah, you're right. B101 is very wrong. At the "Bierseidel" we have not played against each other I think, but maybe we have talked. Are you regularly attending the go meeting at "Mil's"? Then there's a higher chance, that I know you. |

91 was fine, its the moves after 91 that are the problem 95 was almost certainly not necessary (certainly you can' tbe laddered, but leaving it out leaves white a lot of forcing moves, so its debatable) 99 was unnecessary 101 was unnecessary Getting out and getting more liberties was more important. |

At move 58, white t4 (instead of s5) would have lived, even though it seems to be a supposedly dead L group. Wt4-Bs5-Wt2-Bs1-Wr1-Bs2 and white still has two liberties (at q1 and t3) to play s3 for living. In a recent discussion in one of these threads, arguments were exchanged whether theoretical knowledge could be harmful. I think this can be an example. Due to the prejudice of L group being dead straight away, it becomes much easier to overlook this relatively simple sequence. |

Thank you all for your great hints. @quantumf: Yeah, you're right. On ![]() @entropi: Nice sequence you presented. In the game I didn't see, that this is the L-group. Actually, I know there exists something called "the L-group", but I don't care... In the game I read out that White is dead (except for an very unfavorable ko) and missed your line. => ![]() |
