Post subject:  Canadian Go League game (a.k.a Losing a won game)

Yesterday, I played this game for the canadian go association. I knew my opponent was strong and my chances to win pretty low. However, I decided to go and fight and give everything I had. Here's the result:

Move 19: Not sure if C16 is better in this position...
Move 49: Black's mistake. Letting white live in exchange of a thick wall's better. P17 instead?
Move 51: White ended up dying. Not sure if he could have done better, though
Move 61: Clamp tesuji fail. I thought I could split him again. I should have just O12 his move to enlarge my moyo. Was too greedy
Move 115: Oops... mistake. Simply doesn't work. Might as well just play K3
Move 157: NOOOOOOO!!! G6 to live. Black just died and lost the game

I'm pretty glad about the overall result of this game. The guy was strong and I didn't wanted to lose. However, still shows I'm getting better!

Move 11: Feels a bit early - there's no rush in playing this invasion as white is unlikely to spend a move to protect anytime soon. Keeping this may make moves like C12 sente. It's also not that easy for white to solidly protect (G17, for example, probably will still remain even if white protects). A move like Q10 instead seems good.

Move 19: Game moves feels correct as it leaves a better cut later. C15 is another possibility.

Move 25: Slightly aji-keshi - just play on top at Q6.

Move 41: You handled the invasion well until here, I think. This is trying too hard. Consider just P17 here - white has ko, but M17 is no longer a weakness. The game result was that white lived unconditionally.

Move 45: Still trying too hard. P17 lets white live, but you are also connected solidly.

White move 46 doesn't seem right - S19 seems cleanest.

Move 47: P17 here and I don't think white has a good response.

Move 48 is another mistake. Should just connect.

Move 61: Trying too hard again I think. Just O12.

Move 66 should be the ladder.

Move 69 is aji-keshi again.

Didn't look at the rest of the game much. L3 should have been protected sooner. Move 117 was trying too hard.

19: Perhaps C15 followed by C16. Still gote but gains a point or two profit and creates a cutting point.

49: you killed the corner, it's ok. P17 would allow white Q11 or such and the thickness is a little less effective. Still a good result though

61: O12 is also good but I don't think the game sequence qualifies as "fail".

67: so far it looks like a black rout.

69: you should be more careful here. It will take several moves to capture the white group in the corner; better to avoid a capturing race. What if white played 72 at K17? I suggest J17 or J18.

73: the situation at K17 notwithstanding, this is no time for tenuki. M11 is urgent and must be played.
