Other than the game itself, I'm having a really hard time managing my time wisely. I got to Byo-yomi far too early.

Other than that, losing H13 hurt. One thing, the Ko fight I forced at the bottom. That was obviously bigger for Black, but I feel the Ko threat I played was pretty miniscule. And it's my humble opinion that it was ignorable. Any thoughts on that?

I'm only a 4k on kgs so I'm not the ideal person for definitively analyzing your games, but since no one else has responded I figured that I would take a shot. Overall, it seemed like a pretty sloppy game from both sides so it felt very familiar to me :lol: . As far as the time goes, I would agree that it appeared to be a big problem for you. It seems like you would be well served to study some joseki if only to allow you to play quicker in the opening. However, your time problems seem deeper than just playing too slowly. For instance, moves 31 and 35 were big mistakes in my opinion, and you spent a total of 4 and 18 seconds thinking before making them. Conversely, it took you over a minute to decide where to place your third stone in a common opening position. As a result of this, I'd recommend paying attention to where you're spending your time during games rather than just trying to play faster to avoid getting to byo yomi so early.



Edit-My comment on move 49 should say C15, not D15.

I think it was actually your game in the opening since White had two weak groups. But you didn't try to profit from them and when you finally played near them you strengthened them in the first place. Maybe a quick browse through of Attack and Defend? ; )
And more Tsumegos/Tesujis! : D

Thanks for the advice you two. Looking back over my last few commented games, there seems to be a few common themes:

A. Not playing big moves
B. Playing useless moves
C. Playing moves that help my opponent
D. Wasting time on obvious moves

So, I think what I may start doing is questioning the purpose of a move before I play it. What do I hope to gain from this move? Is it achieving that purpose or the exact opposite? Hopefully this will lead me to making some better choices in the long run. Also, I honestly think studying joseki will help me in the fuseki a lot. I say this because I'm seeing a lot of move choices I'm not otherwise too familiar with.
