Hi everyone~! ![]() I've been reading though these forums for a while now, and decided it's time I take part too ![]() My name is Jacob, and I am 17 years old. Like many people, I found out about this game after watching Hikaru no Go. I started playing around ~5 months ago (late September), and have gotten to KGS 4 kyu since. I believe that one should be optimistic and set their sight on a ridiculous goal to succeed, even though it might not be possible - and that's why my ultimate goal is to get to 9 Dan! (... probably sometime in the far.. far.. far.. future...) In the meantime though, I'll be focusing on a much smaller and a slightly more realistic goal, which is to become 1 Dan, hopefully in the next 2-3 months. Well, that's pretty much it about myself. Looking forward to spending my time here with everyone ![]() Thank you! Biz |

Good to see you're enjoying the ride so far. Just take it one rank at a time and keep going. 4k in half a year is pretty good, though. Keep on enjoying yourself, and who knows how far you'll come. |

Quote: How many hours a day do you think you put in? I play around 4-5 games on average every day. That combined with an occassional half an hour or so to study Go from the web or books, sums up to around 2-2.5 hours a day. Though there are days when I am super motivated, and play over 10 games in one day, and can end up spending more than 5-6 hours. And yes tenato, that is the plan! ![]() |
