Post subject:  Gotta go

I have one piece of awesome news: my wife and I are expecting our second child, a boy, on March 1st. However, between now and then, I have a nursery to get ready, and then a ton of other responsibilities that I need to take care of in the next month and a half.

So with the exception of finishing my game against illluck (that's just manners, you understand), I want you to yell at me if you see me posting.*

I've been thinking that I need to spend less time on the boards, and I've mostly been failing at it. So I'm saying it out loud and asking for help in holding my feet to the fire.

* Ok, I'll check this thread as well.

Congratulations! Get some rest when you can! I don't think go is going anywhere, it'll be here when you achieve a child steady-state!

Congrats! I hope all goes well with wife and child.

If you must be elsewhere for a while, it seems fitting that you should name him Tenuki. :D

Congratulations. The second time is easier than the first in many ways, or so I found. :)

Congrats! At least I don't (theoretically) need to worry about this for at least a couple years. ;)

Have fun! And enjoy the growing family!

Funny that you ask this, Fedya. The day I wrote this post, I played two games against her on the physical board. Per the discussion on the post about kids and go, I tried a little harder to play by the rules. In the first, we played out a little broken ladder one place, with me saying "now they only have one free space" (of course there was other stuff on the board).

Then I can remember part of the second game:

Elliot was born last night, 8 lbs 3 oz. He's healthy, his mom is doing great, and they're both sleeping right now.

In the first post in this thread, I mentioned "a ton of other responsibilities". I really meant one responsibility: find a job. I lost my last job in October, when the company I was working for closed.

Starting this coming Monday, I'll be a software developer (JavaScript and Java). That's an especially big deal because I'm self taught aside from a handful of Coursera courses. Back in January, I was in a nerve-wracking position. I'd had a few interviews and interest from companies, which meant that I wasn't crazy to apply for development jobs, but I also had zero formal experience and had no idea how long it would take to find one.
