This book and board ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1780974248 ) has just been remaindered yesterday. ( IOW: the publisher is dumping them cheap ) Most, if not all of them are in the hands of a remainder dealer called Daedalus books.

I suspect that the board is cardboard and the stones are plastic, but the wholesale price is $2.99 at http://www.daedalus-wholesale.com - if you have a resale license.

Usually, Daedalus puts items on their retail site within a day or two after they appear on their wholesale site, so you should see it at http://www.daedalusbooks.com for $5.99 very soon.

BTW, I just put the Amazon link up so that you could see what it looks like. I don't recommend buying it from Amazon simply because the prices are higher. ( And most of the sellers listing the book don't really have it. If you buy from them they will just turn around and buy from Daedalus )

The only time that I would buy it on Amazon is if Daedalus lists them there. I suspect that they will do so in the next week or two. If they do, the price will probably be $5.99. They won't be eligible for prime.

Thanks! Might pick up a few of these to use with students who are interested in the game at the community college where I teach.

I found a picture of the board and stones at boardgamegeek for anyone who is interested.

Check with Daedalus: they may give wholesale rates to a school.

Unfortunately, that requires a login.

I got this from Daedalus' wholesale site:

Looks like the stones are too small.

Ugh, could black and white be playing any worse? Petty, I know, but a clearly idiotic and ugly board position is not a good advertisement for this product. I can see lots of empty triangles, Black playing on the first line, and a white B2 bomber with sidecar. Shudder.

Oh wow. That's the first Go set I ever purchased (about 11 years ago), and the book I learned the basics from! It's made of cardboard and plastic but is surprisingly durable, and if I recall there is a 9x9 board on the reverse side.

I ordered 20 sets and just received them! Here's some pictures.

I've included a real board in the last two pictures for scale :)
