There is a major tournament for strong players coming up at the Seattle Go Center on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, with $1000 in prizes. The tournament will start at 9:00 AM on both days. One section of the tournament will be for players who want to compete for the new AGA pro position. The winner of our tournament will be eligible to go to the national AGA - Tygem Pro Tournament in North Carolina from July 28 to August 4, and will receive $500 for expenses, if they compete. A second section of the tournament will be for players who do not plan to turn pro this year. Both sections will be competing for another $500 in prizes at the tournament. This two day tournament will have 5 rounds, with 1 hr basic time for each side. These will be AGA rated games, and will also count for qualifying points for the U.S. positions in the World Mind Sports Games in France. Registration is $20 in advance, and $30 the first day of the tournament. For more information, and to register, please visit our web page at: http://www.seattlego.org/events/pro-prelim-tourn/ |

I wonder if it would be possible to show the registered participants on the website, really interested to see how the field is shaping up! |

I passed this question on to the tournament organizers. They have decided that since registration will be open until 9:00am the day of the tournament, there would be no way to list all of the players before the first round. So they will not be posting names on the website before the event. They may post the number of registrants as we get closer to the day of the tournament. Any further questions should be sent directly to Brian Allen, manager of the SCG. His address can be found on the SGC website. |
