I haven't watched anything but the first two minutes of this, but it's a show which talks about Fujisawa Shuko. It's part of a series called "Crazy Journey" and aired today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM646KjV0lE

Takao Shinji posted about it airing on his blog which is how I heard about it.

Only on the video. He died several years ago.

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

I noticed recently that he smoked the same brand as Kuwabara Honinbo in Hikaru no Go (see the second half of this NHK Cup game). Kuwabara is often thought to have been inspired by Sakata because of the hair, but his clinging to the Honninbo while fending off the challenge of younger players reminds me more of Shuko/Hideyuki and his six consecutive Kisei titles.

Wow, that is really rude. Are you otherwise incapable of describing what you don't like about the way he acts?

Nil nisi bonum?

When GoGoD arranged for Pieter Mioch to interview Fujisawa we agreed to defer to the family's wishes and tone down certain parts of the first draft, even though we felt we'd already toned down substantially.

He was a remarkable go player and talented in other ways, and very brave, but I for one regard his general behaviour as appalling. It has been amply chronicled in print and on tv in Japan, so there are really no secrets but I'll stck to the de mortuis ethos here. Still, I do hope he doessn't transmogrify into a lovable old rogue in some future NHK Asadora series.

In character, go players are just like the rest of us and CJK pros include their fair share of killers, wife beaters, rapists, fraudsters, blackmailers, slanderers and liers, as evidenced for example in newspaper reports. And I'm sure this forum is not squeaky clean either.

This is just from few clips I saw, perhaps the man was angry or moody. I didn't say he is, I said he acts like...

krama, I don't care about this topic, but that argument is as disingenuous as "I apologize that you feel that way."
