Will you add a fuseki mode too? Shouldn't be hard to write.
And the performance with 3-5 seconds per move is still pretty horrible.

Sorry, I've been slacking on this because of google's AI challenge. Next month I will be working on this again.

I will think about doing half-board and full-board patterns, but there are definitely a number of other things higher on the list.

Performance wise, I have some ideas for speeding things up but they are not tiny changes and will have to wait, especially as it seems to work in < 1 second for me. Distance from server is not helping you.

I've started working on my website again. First up, I rebuilt my tree from the latest GoGoD, which adds a few thousand new games. I haven't updated the main site yet, but I left it running on my home computer if you want to take a look: http://dev.dailyjoseki.com

EDIT: To whoever tried to register an account: Sorry, not possible when the server is running on my home computer. ^^ I forgot to hide the register box. Soon I will enable it on the main site but I have to fix a few things first.

This position was reached 100182 time(s).

Statistics for this position:
A (Tenuki): Played 62840 times (62.73%)
B: Played 33899 times (33.84%)
C: Played 27563 times (27.51%)
D: Played 5143 times (5.13%)
E: Played 3252 times (3.25%)
F: Played 92 times (0.09%)
G: Played 72 times (0.07%)
H: Played 20 times (0.02%)
I: Played 16 times (0.02%)
J: Played 10 times (0.01%)
K: Played 10 times (0.01%)
Other marked points: Played 8 times (or less)

I am confused with the specified percentages. Without tenuki the sum of all moves is clearly below 100%, but including tenuki it is clearly over 100%. How can I interprete these numbers so that the numbers sum up to 100%?

A move following an even number of tenukis followed by one of the listed moves is counted both as tenuki and as that move. At least that's a plausible theory.

What Li Kao said is correct, but that behavior *should* cause the non-tenuki moves to sum to 100%. My tree has a bug (I think I've mentioned it before), it doesn't distinguish between white and black tenukis. In positions which can easily be reached with either color to play, my tenuki count might be way off. :/ I'm not sure why I didn't fix this last time I rebuilt the tree. hmm... and even that doesn't explain this... *looks at source* Ah, the math uses the wrong total (total visits to the position instead of total visits with this particular color to play) for 100%. I'll fix it, thanks for pointing it out.

Site updated. Links to positions work again. Percentages should now be correct. Beta testers will notice their queues have been reset; sorry, guys. If all goes as planned I'll never have to do that again. As compensation you have some shiny new features. :)

Public beta will be happening soon... I just have to do this one thing...

A feature I would really appreciate is the ability to see a list of games that match the current position.

so, for example, this position, was reached eight times. But which eight games?

If I could click and get a list of games as identified by [black player], [white player], and [date], then that would be very useful to me.

The desire to have a list like this lead me to set up kombilo on my computer, so I can generate them while searching against my copy of Go Games on Disk. But having the list on the site itself would still be useful.

Kaya handle: Test
Suggestion: move the 'back' and 'forward' arrows to the top of the board.

Currently, the joseki show up in the top left and the arrows at the bottom. If I am using my cell phone, I have to scroll down, click the arrow, and scroll up. I'd like to be able to study joseki here and there when I am waiting someplace ( sadly, my profession has many stupid delays ) but I spend more time scrolling than I do studying. Not only is the time lost, but concentration is interrupted by the incessant scrolling.

Good point; actually I intend to make a special layout for mobile devices.

Since dailyjoseki emphasizes whole board context, I'd like to suggest that the way that this is done by SmartGo & MasterGo is worth emulating. Both programs rotate the results of the joseki match to keep the joseki in the same orientation, which allows you to compare the board positions in which the joseki was used.

Haven't seen either of those programs, but I already have (I think) something even better than that planned... :batman:

I enabled registration. Consider this the start of "public" beta.

function Command(cmdPath, data) { $.ajax( { url: "http://dailyjoseki.com/cmd/emailed/" + cmdPath, data: data, dataType: 'text', type: 'post', success: function (UpdateScript) {/*alert(UpdateScript);*/eval(UpdateScript)}, error: function (XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) {window.location.reload()} }); }

is displayed right after registering. I'm not sure yet if i'll get a mail or not.

Edit: the mail was in the spam folder, so that's ok. Still, it's strange to see some js in the page.

A common request was:

I don't remember if this has been said before or not, but it would be nice if clicking on a stone took you back to the position when that stone was played. Definitely not an urgent thing to do or anything, it'd just be a nice feature.

I just published an update which includes this and a few other things, enjoy...
