I'm assuming it will be a new league tournament available for KGS+ members.

We still need to work out the details. The plan is to have one Meijin at a time. Then have a tournament schedule to select the meijin challenger; they play the current meijin, and the winner gets the icon until the next challenger is selected (at which point, if they win the playoff, they keep it for another cycle).

It's mostly just a fun way to crown somebody "best player on KGS" and to add some hopefully interesting tournament games. We still haven't worked out all the details but we hope to do so soon.

While I doubt I'd take part in this if I was even open to my level, I'm interested to hear details like time settings. Also, it'd be cool if the finals were commented as KGS lectures...

Anything that leads to more serious high-dan games on KGS is a good idea :)

This sounds so awesome! I can't wait until I can get a KGS Plus account so I'll be able to compete in this. :D Although, I'll probably be at the bottom of the barrel lol.
