I cannot see how I would match to any of these patterns. My observation at tournaments is that less than 1% of the matches of EGF-5k-and-weaker players enter the byoyomi phase. Being part of this group I wouldn't say that I am a quick player, even though I have never entered byoyomi yet in any of my 67 tournament games so far. However a few times I was only a few seconds away from it. Usually when I finish my game, the very most of the games up to 5k are already finished, sometimes even all (depends on whether my opponent is a slow player as well or not). Concerning the distribution of time between opening, middlegame and endgame I'd say that I am a rather balanced player, because I am weak at all parts of the game, so I need extensive pondering at all stages of the game...

Wow, really? I'm really surprised to hear that. In my small amount of experience, I enter byo-yomi more often than not. For some reason, I mostly get paired against people that are AGA 5k+, so it's hard to judge from my opponents. I guess I'd say that one in three of my opponents made it to byo-yomi.

Interesting to know. What are the usual time settings in tournaments over there? Here in Germany it's either 45min or 60min main time.
